Who are the Friends? The Friends of West Slope Community Library is a non-profit organization which supports our library. Anyone who uses the library may become a member of the Friends. The Friends board meets quarterly at the library. Visit friendsofwsl.org to learn more.
What do the Friends do? The Friends raise money for buying books, programs such as Summer Reading, projects for making the library more user-friendly (like the purchase of furniture), and more. The library’s funding is determined by the county, and this is subject to change due to budget constraints and funding allocation methods. In addition to the areas listed above, money the Friends raise is used as a cushion for funding existing library services for which regular county funding may not always be available. They also publish a newsletter which is sent to members 2-3 times a year.
How do I join or renew? You may come into the library to fill out a membership form and submit a check made out to “Friends of WSL”. Checks can also be mailed to the Friends (address below). Dues and other contributions are tax deductible. Below are the levels of membership:
| Individual | $15 |
| Family | $20 |
| Sustaining | $30 |
| Patron | $50 |
