Donations
We accept the donation of books, CDs, DVDs, and other materials. Because of storage limitations, donations must meet certain criteria before we are able to accept them. Here are a few guidelines:
- Condition: items should be in good condition; no moldy, smelly, or dirty items, please.
- Paperbacks: we do not accept fiction paperbacks, unless they are very new or are classics.
- Textbooks: we do not accept textbooks.
- Abridged books: we do not accept condensed or abridged books.
- Encyclopedias: we accept encyclopedias that are newer (less than 15 years old) and are complete; we do not accept incomplete sets or yearbooks.
- Vinyl records and cassette tapes: we do not accept vinyl records, cassettes, or 8-track tapes; we do accept books on tape, however.
If there is a need, some donated materials become part of the library’s collection and will circulate. Otherwise, volunteers from the Friends of the Library appraise each item and sell them in our booksale in order to raise funds for the library.
When you bring in your donations, you can ask us for a receipt slip so that you can report your donation on your tax return.
We greatly appreciate the genorosity of our donors. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 503-292-6416.
