Friends of the Library and Giving

Take and Make programs supported by Friends

What the Friends group does

The Friends of West Slope Community Library raise money for summer reading prizes, author visits, and supplies that fall outside the county base budget. Members also help with book sales and outreach tables at neighborhood events.

How to donate money or books

Cash gifts often pass through the Friends secure forms linked from the main Donations page on this site. Gently used books may be accepted during advertised drives. When in doubt, call the branch before you load boxes into your car.

Volunteer roles that help most

Shelving teams, garden tidy-up days, and program setup are common tasks. WCCLS runs a background check for certain roles. Ask at the desk for the current volunteer packet or watch the home page for signup nights.

County funding versus local extras

Washington County pays staff salaries, the shared catalog, and the building lease. Friends funding adds the small touches that make programs feel special. Reading Current Services keeps you aligned with county rules while you plan a gift.

Patrons who want help at home should open WCCLS digital borrowing at home. If you plan to work inside the building, see Quiet study and public computers. Official Friends history also lives on Friends of the Library in the About menu.
